Render Plus Plugin for Sketchup

I am considering purchasing a RenderPlus Plugin for Sketchup for photo realistic rendering from Sketchup Pro. So far it works well with Sketchup and it is reasonably priced about $80. I am using a 30 trial at the moment and learning to ajust the settings for lighting and backgrounds etc.

Designing from the "Inside Out"

When part of a larger project or the design of a single sign, the approach to the actual graphic layout of a sign should be opposite to the “Outside In’’ approach. Starting at the center of the sign area at the point in which the eye naturally flows to first. The layout of the graphics needs to be well done and work your way out from there. Whether it is a great logo or simple copy used for giving the most basic of information, the layout and arrangement of the graphics and margins around it are critical. One may have the greatest looking sign structure in the world but if the focus of the sign is poorly done it detracts from the sign as a whole. Working out from the center the margins, panel shape and embellishments such as trim, headers, column, base and even landscaping all should have a combined effect of a thoughtful planned purposeful aesthetic.

Designing From the "Outside In"

Signage design projects range in scope widely from large packages with multiple complex sign types all the way down to only a few simple layouts and everything in between. The phrase from ”Outside In” is my view of a design approach for larger projects and even some smaller projects that it may evolve into a larger project. Looking at a project from a larger perspective before diving straight in saves time in the end and makes a better first impression with clients. Sketching concepts or designing using a CAD program too early may time result in wasted time tinkering with a poor idea or ideas that are not formed on complete information.
Site Maps, Property Inventories and Message Schedules are the main tools that are used to assess the scope of the information content and propose of signage types on a project. If these tools are used properly they can map out a project in a organized manner that is easy for others to internalize and understand. The creation of the information content and establishment of sign types can be a challenge. Review of all the information and finding or creating similarities in size, purpose, message, mounting, construction etc. is a good start in organizing the signage.
Permit restrictions and code compliance is also of great concern while looking at project from a macro perspective. Local codes and their interpretation by a local code enforcement officer vary widely from city, county, state and federal levels. The sooner code regulations are factored into the process the better. Certain sign types for projects such as Stairwell Egress Instructions are sometimes highly mandated and may even need to go through a review by the local Fire Marshall.
